New Salsa bikes have landed

Salsa 2018 models have just arrived! We’ve got the following models….

FARGO

BIKEPACKING / OFF-ROAD TOURING / SINGLETRACK

Fargo is our original drop bar mountain bike. A bit of a cult classic, it’s designed for riders that like variety in their routes and the capability to carry everything needed when out for days on end. The comfort and real estate of Woodchipper bars provide the perfect perch for mixed-surface riding, and whether your Fargo is built with Ti or steel, you end up with a great ride that’s always able to fulfill the most imaginative endeavor. Alternator V. 1.5 dropouts allow a singlespeed drivetrain or belt drive compatibility, and clearance for 27.5+, 29”, or 29+ wheels let you build a bike that’s just right for you and your styles of riding. How deep into the wild unknown you travel is up to you. Fargo. Go Far.

Versatility is the name of the game for adventure riding, and Fargo has it in spades. Multiple bikepacking or touring gear mounting options, room for 27.5” or 29” or 29+ wheels and tires, and Alternator 1.5 dropouts for a smorgasbord of drivetrain choices. Spec-wise we added clutch Rival and GX rear derailleurs for their rugged quality, tubeless-ready WTB Rangers, and as always, our ever popular Woodchipper handlebar.

WARBIRD

GRAVEL RACING / FIREROAD RIDING / ROAD RIDING

Warbird is our gravel race bike, built off years of experience racing in some of the nation’s premier gravel events like the Almanzo 100, Dirty Kanza 200 and 340-mile Trans Iowa. Warbird is designed to survive and thrive on anything from the often-hazardous B-roads that make up much of the Midwest gravel scene to the fire roads that climb to the heavens on the coastlines. Riding a Warbird only improves your chances of a podium finish.

VAYA GX

ANY ROAD / GRAVEL / LIGHT TOURING

Vaya is our road adventure and light touring bike, designed to handle any road surface, from pavement to gravel to dirt. The tubing selection and stable geometry across the line make for a bike that feels great lightly loaded or unloaded. Room for up to 50 mm tires means you can tailor your traction and comfort to the task at hand. Whether you’re on a fast tour or just taking your time, Vaya is an extremely versatile machine that’s at home on everything from picture perfect lanes to less than ideal byways.

For 2018, Vaya gets wider range adventure gearing, 48/32 in front with an 11/34 in back, and a clutch rear derailleur for precise shifting on rougher terrain. We understand the need for comfort and control in these conditions, so we approach the cockpit layout with tried and true touchpoints like our short-reach, 12-degree flared Cowbell handlebar. Tubeless-ready rims and big tires also help take the edge off the ride and add to the amount of time you’ll be able to spend out.

MARRAKESH

EXPEDITION TOURING / WORLD TRAVEL / CULTURAL EXPLORATION

Marrakesh is our world-touring bike, designed for fully loaded, rugged exploration. We offer Marrakesh in a drop bar or flat bar setup. Both cockpits have different handling attributes, so we designed geometries best suited for each one. Marrakesh is stable and predictable when heavily loaded, and durable enough to be strapped down to the roof of a bus jostling over a remote pass. Turkish dust around the bottom bracket and mud from Thailand’s monsoon season make just as much sense on this bike as all the stickers from the other countries you’ve visited do. When you’ve decided to stop dreaming and actually make that year abroad a reality, Marrakesh is ready to pile on the miles.

  1. Hi Sani

There are a few coming into the country at the end of the month, available to special order, let us know if you would like one.

  2. Hi Glen, they are currently sold out in the US with no resupply date yet, we have some good alternatives from Surly and Kona that might suit.

  3. Hi,

Any ideas what colours the new Fargo for 2018 will be? I know its bit superficial , but can’t stand pastel green, white. I can cope with purple if you have any in medium?
